Minutes from meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 4pm at Library West.

NCF SHRM
• Ja’Net hasn’t returned Ashlei email about the results from the NCF SHRM meeting
• Don’t know about budget or panel
• May have to postpone info meeting
• New possible date Monday, November 9, 2009
• Ask NCF SHRM panel for suggestions on powerpoint presentation before meeting

Publicity for info meeting
• Tabling at Reitz Union, Weimer, and business buildings
• Graduate Business Listservs – MSM, MAIB, ISOM, MBA
• Journalism College Listserv
• Ashlei will announce to AKPsi
• Flyers – use free printing around campus
• Honors Daily listserv, What’s Happening in Alligator, Gator Times

Logo
• Look for a logo that will transfer well to a small size on shirts
• More expensive with more colors
• Ashlei and Kristen both showed sample logos
• Kristen looked at pricing at a design printing company

NCF SHRM – donations and representative panel (SEND TO JA'NET)

· Help with logo – $50 or their own resource

· Tablecloth, sandwiches ($37), cookies ($10), chips ($6), drinks ($7), cups, napkins, plates, plasticware ($10)

· 3-4 speakers from varied aspects of HR and/or industries

o What is your typical day like?

o What is your background and how did you get involved in HR?

o Role in SHRM and benefits (NCF and national)

o Advice for us – how to get into HR, future of the industry, economic and legal impacts

o Aspects of HR: training and development, recruiting, benefits, compensation, consulting, employee relations

o Industries: Retail, hospitality, governmental, private companies, consulting firms

Logo

· Ashlei will forward pictures to Graphic Design student org

Membership Application

· Info sheet (summary of powerpoint)

· Community service (programs), fundraising (programs), publicity/PR (membership), web/IT (membership), professional development (programs), socials (membership), interchapter relations (membership), treasurer, secretary

o Explain why they want that position

· Major, year, background in HR, career interests, other student orgs, stay local or become national SHRM members ($35)

Presentation

· Powerpoint made last year

· Ask for $15 dues/semester (change bylaws to include dues)

· Shirts
